Snuff consumption is the major single cause of preventable illness and death in the world today. It represents a major public health problem not only for its size, but also for the health consequences it entails, as well as its high economic and social costs. Smoking is not just a habit, is a chronic disease that is characterized as a drug: nicotine, the active ingredient of the snuff, is an addictive drug and as such has the characteristics of other drugs: tolerance, physical and psychological dependence.
